This imposing Victorian-style structure dates back to 1898. The construction will have cost 83,750 US dollars.... at the time. It was commissioned to house the offices of the British administration and replace the wooden structure that dated back to 1883. They are still administrative offices, but this time from Perak State. The building houses the Council Chamber, the Secretariat of State, the Public Treasury and the Ministries of Education and Forestry. If the building cannot be visited, it is a practical landmark in the city.
