Currently, Malindo Air operates several direct flights per week to Penang, Langkawi and Pekanbaru (Indonesia). Air Asia operates several daily flights to Penang. The airports of Kuala Lumpur and Johor Bahru, which are much better served, are not very far away and are generally the preferred options for travelling around the country or region. The airport still handles more than 1.5 million passengers a year.
