SARAWAK TEXTILE MUSEUM
This superb building dating from 1907, whose architecture blends colonial and Renaissance styles, is a former hospital called The Pavilion. Since 2005, it has housed the Sarawak Textile Museum, showcasing the magnificent fabrics, costumes, jewelry and various traditional accessories of Sarawak's ethnic communities. The exhibition shows the differences between the traditional pua kumbu of the Iban and the Malay kai songket. A didactic tour takes visitors through the manufacturing process, from thread to finished product.
