On the site of a former prisoner of war detention camp, this park commemorates the suffering endured by Allied forces after Japan's invasion of Sabah in 1942. It was from here that the "death marches" started towards Ranau, 260 km away. As the Allied forces advanced, the Japanese decided to transfer the 1,900 bloodless prisoners to Ranau. Only 6 of them managed to escape and survive
