South of Singapore, the small island of Keppel or Pulau Keppel, once used for boat construction and repair, has since 2007 been home to luxury accommodation and a marina with 168 pontoons for yachts over 85 metres in length. The waterway was used as early as the 13th century as a passage for ships to the South China Sea. Captain Keppel discovered in 1848 the strong harbour potential of the deep-water site. Even without a ring, it is very pleasant to come and walk around and look at the boats
