For three days of adrenaline and festivities, the city-state vibrates to the sound of racing cars and concerts by international artists.
Singapore has been hosting its Formula 1 Grand Prix since 2008. Held on a circuit laid out in the city's streets around Marina Bay, the race is unique in that it takes place at night. To enable the drivers to compete in optimum conditions, 500 street lamps are needed, equivalent to the lighting of almost four soccer pitches. The Grand Prix attracts over 250,000 visitors to the city-state over the weekend. Numerous festivities are organized for the occasion, including concerts and other parties.
