Also known as Eid el-Kebir which means "the great feast of sacrifice", in memory of Abraham's sacrifice of his own flesh to God, his son Ishmael. But God accepted the sacrifice of a sheep. Hari Raya Haji takes place on the 10th day of the 12th month of the Muslim calendar, it is one of the highlights of Islam which marks the end of the Hajj, the return of the pilgrimage to Mecca, every year. In the mosques, sacrifices of sheep, ewes and goats are made. The meat is then distributed to the poorest.
