CHIJMES (CONVENT OF THE HOLY INFANT JESUS)
Discover this former convent now dedicated to nightlife and events in a very "modern heritage" setting.
This magnificent architectural complex, which is pronounced Tchaïms, is located a stone's throw from the Raffles Hotel. Caldwell House, the oldest building was built in 1840. In 1852, the Sisters of the Holy Child Jesus opened a school, an orphanage and a shelter for women and girls in difficulty. The chapel and cloister, built in 1904, have been preserved. Deacralized, they now host restaurants, bars and shops and are part of the high places of Singaporean nightlife.
