Built for and by the rich Tan family in 1876 and restored in 1964, it is declared UNESCO World Heritage Site on November 19, 1974. The building was designed as a meeting place and a temple devoted to the ancestors.
We brought all the materials from China. The intention was to copy the Chinese palaces. The decoration is rather sophisticated with tablets where the names of the deceased members of the clan are inscribed. A monk will predict the future with bamboo sticks, based on the book of transfigurations (Yi King).
