Not far from the Temple of the Buddha with the Splendid Nose and the Thousand Lights is the Burmese Temple, the only example of a Theravada Buddhist temple in Singapore. Founded in 1875, it was moved here in 1988. The faithful come here to pray in front of a sumptuous white marble Buddha statue. It is 3.30 m high and comes from the Mandalay region, the capital of northern Burma. The complex also includes a meditation hall with statues of Buddhas from Thailand and Burma in different postures.
