NAGORE DURGHA SHRINE
Built in 1828 by brothers Mohammed and Haja Mohideen, this imposing building commemorates Shahul Hamid's visit to Singapore. This holy man had come from Nagore in southern India to spread the sacred word among the Indian Muslim faithful. The sanctuary stands out for its relatively imposing mass, like a giant cake of several floors. The pillars are Corinthian, the doors are in Palladian style; at the four corners rise towers in the shape of a Chinese pagoda, while on the roof sprout mini towers with rather elongated bulbs.
