Built between 1856 and 1862, the building housed the City Hall until 1893 before it was transformed into a 900-seat theater in 1905. The same year, a body of the building was added with a 54-meter high clock tower built as a tribute to Queen Victoria. In the 1970s, a new hall with a capacity of 800 people was added. Classical music concerts and plays are performed before an audience of amateurs.
