Friends of kitsch, hello! The Haw Par Villa, also known as the Tiger Balm Garden, is the brainchild of millionaire An Boon Haw, inventor of the famous ointment. The 9.5 hectare park, the former property of two brothers, houses their collection of statues depicting Chinese legends and folklore. It has been called everything from a magnificent tribute to bad taste, to a Confucian Disneyland, to a moralistic monstrosity. While you are there, go and visit the Hua Song museum, which traces the life of the overseas Chinese.
