Unfortunately no -1 stars.
They took order for our pre dinner drinks and forgot one of them. This can totally happen to anyone, so we didnt mind.

For dinner, we had to wait for nearly 2 hours and had to ask several times when it was coming. Every 20mins they said it would come in 5mins max, it's cooking right now.

After around 1.30 hrs, when we said we would have to go as we were super hungry, they said they're cooking it now and coming. (Mind you, no bread until we asked and it was stale)

One friend who asked for a rare beef burger had a burnt one with really stale fries. Our food came at different times, was cold, undercooked. Even though we were really hungry, had to waste food as it was inedible.

Price was very expensive, which we really don't mind. However, no real apologies/no tokens for the bad service, they only said pas ti ena staff(no staff). Which we understand, however, when you pay for something, you expect a standard of food or service or stop taking guests if you know you can't deliver

When you hear about Suffren in Port Louis you can only imagine the Best. If you park at caudan you arrive via a boat shuttle, decoration is nice. Then you sit and start to fall.

The poor waiter was overwhelmed it looked like they were understaffed even if we saw a lot of guys serving and managers were sitting inside.
The Bar forgot a drink from the start. Not a big deal but just adds up to the overall experience.
We sat and ordered. After few basic questions the waiters have no idea what they are serving. We waited 1h30 to get our food. We had to complain 3 times to get our food.
Mashed potato was as solid as a full potato.
Souris d'agneau was hard. Almost felt like octopus.
Beef burger was burnt and fries cold.
Beef tartare was cooked. Yes it is possible to cook the tartar wrong. Info for the suffren cook, it is supposed to be raw.

But very kind from the staff, as an apology we got a bowl of edamame with salt on it as a gift.

Shame.

When your restaurant is full and you have one waiter trying his best to cope with all the work by himself, the manager and F&B manager could have given him a hand. Instead, they spent the whole evening enjoying a drink at a table! We even thought they were customers like us. Food took 1h30 to arrive and it was cold and burnt for some of us. As an apology for a "cooked tartar", my friend received toasted bread! What a shame for such an institution in Caudan! At least the water was fresh!

Kudos to the only waiter working really hard that evening!

Buffet for lunch was absolutely worth it ! Food was delicious despite the limited dishes available and amazing desserts. Drinks were nicely presented and tasted good as well. Only point that can be improved is relocating the table right in the middle at the entrance - not ideal with guests and staff passing by frequently and the door movement. Overall good service by waiters, remarkably clean and great food nicely displayed.

Went for lunch and ordered the Vol-au-vent as starter and the Shared Platter for Two as main dish.
Though the food did take quite long to come,it was amazing both in taste and presentation.
However, what we appreciated most was the hospitality of the staff, constantly checking on us to make sure all was good, this, without being disruptive.
We were even offered complimentary snacks since the main dish was taking long to be prepared.
Special thanks to the waiter who very kindly brought a fly repellant fan to our table on seeing us struggling to shoo away one of them.

Looking forward to come back there soon!

The Suffren Hotel restaurant has undergone a notable transformation, introducing a completely revamped menu. This change, however, comes with mixed impressions. While the menu shift introduces a sense of novelty, it is not without its drawbacks.

One notable change is a reduction in the variety of choices available. The current menu offers fewer options compared to its predecessor, potentially limiting the appeal for those who value a diverse selection. Additionally, there's a discernible increase in pricing, making the dining experience more expensive than before. This change might be a consideration for patrons who appreciated the previous balance between choices and affordability.

A particular disappointment is the alteration of the lava cake, which no longer meets the expectation of being a true "lava cake" according to personal taste. Such changes in well-loved desserts can affect the overall satisfaction of diners who were fond of the previous rendition.

Opting for the lamb shank, while described as heavy and consistent, poses a challenge. The portion size may be too generous, making it difficult for diners to finish the entire dish. While hearty portions are often appreciated, finding a balance that allows patrons to enjoy the entire meal without feeling overwhelmed is crucial.

On a positive note, the restaurant offers a buffet option, providing a variety of choices. However, the preference for an à la carte experience, despite the changes, underscores a sentiment of nostalgia for the previous menu's offerings.

The setting of the Suffren Hotel restaurant remains a highlight, offering a pleasant view of Caudan. The ambiance continues to be a strong point, contributing to an enjoyable dining atmosphere.

In conclusion, while the Suffren Hotel restaurant's revamped menu brings novelty and maintains a pleasant setting, the reduction in choices, increased prices, and alterations to beloved dishes may leave some patrons nostalgic for the previous menu. The shift in the dining experience raises considerations for those who valued the balance of variety, affordability, and culinary familiarity in the past.

Menu has changed and is now a bit more limited. They also took gambas off the menu which is a shame ! Service is ok and atmosphere is nice if it's not too packed. Better be seated inside during summer. They serve bread on the side but sadly it's always dead cold or nearly stale. Other than that food is good

Came here for some dinner on a weekday. We reserved a table, although it was pretty quiet when we visited. Should be noted that on Weds, Thurs and Fri they have buffet service although we visited on a Tuesday. So, this was an a la carte visit.

The service was friendly, polite and efficient.

We were provided with a bread basket that included brown breads and mini baguettes.

For starters, I ordered grilled octopus with an apple sauce.
This was an interesting combination, one which I was intrigued by.
I also tried the mushroom vol-au-vent. I love a good pastry and this was cooked to perfection. This was hot, flakey and crumbly.

After a short wait, the octopus arrived. Cutting into it I already knew I was in for a treat as it cut the knife cut through the tender meat.

The apple and octopus combination was really lovely. Octopus was grilled properly and tasted fantastic - I really enjoyed this.

For the mains, I ordered grilled calamari.
Again, this was a fantastic dish. Presented in an impressionable way, tasted fantastic and left me wanting more.
I also had a bite of the wagyu beef burger. This was a great-tasting burger that I thoroughly enjoyed. The ingredients in the burger were perfectly balanced.

For dessert, I came across an interesting dish known as ‘La Tomate’. This dish includes slices of beef tomato with vanilla oil and strawberry couli.
I decided to go for this as it sounded most intriguing.

I say, the dessert was a lovely taste. The tomato and strawberry couli was a creative combination that tasted well. A creative and slightly unusual dish, to me, but glad I tried it.

I also had a virgin mojito that was refreshing and cool. Perfect for the end of a warm day.
A green tea was my end of meal drink, however. This tasted fine.

Overall, this is a restaurant that enjoys experimenting with certain dishes and presenting it in creative ways.
Would recommend this to anyone looking to have an enjoyable and fun food experience; great dishes, inventive food combinations and creatively presented.
