This popular Asian canteen in Chinatown occupies part of the first floor of a building in old Port-Louis, whose elaborate balconies hint at its former beauty. Inside, a cramped room with a haphazard charm hosts a few Formica tables and chairs that are crowded all week at lunchtime. The chef knows a thing or two about fried mines, steamed dumplings and their broth, and other delights of Sino-Mauritian cuisine, all of which are perfectly seasoned with the right amount of herbs and spices. Want to relive or simply experience the old traditional Chinese Food? Well Cafe Shanghai is the place for you. Once inside, you will be welcomed with the smell of an old traditional chinese place with a menu that dated for more 50years. You get that true chinese food taste, coming from generations before. From noodles, mine frit, riz frit and so much more, you will find yourself coming back to try something else.
Note that during lunch time, it may become too crowded and may sometimes be seated straight away. But its all in the experience.
