Modern church and a funerary monument dedicated to Father Laval, a French missionary, doctor and priest

In the district of Sainte Croix, a modern church and a funerary monument dedicated to Father Laval stand. This French missionary, both doctor and priest, devoted himself to the Mauritian population from 1841 to 1864. Recognized by all the pious people (of all religions), he was beatified in 1979. Nowadays, a procession takes place to his recumbent tomb every 9th of September and gathers pilgrims from all over the world. Pope John Paul II himself came to pray there. Small museum.

Intéressant si on est véhiculé
L’éloignement de Saint-Louis nécessite une longue marche. Si on n'est pas particulièrement religieux, qu'on a peu de temps et pas de véhicule, il y a peut-être d'autres visites à privilégier. Sinon l'église a quand même un bel intérêt architectural

Hommage au bienfaiteur de Maurice
Très émouvant de se plonger a travers ce site sur l histoire de cet homme épris de bonté,symbole chrétien de l île.Un pèlerinage à lieu chaque année ou se rejoignent des fidèles venus du monde entier.

Père Laval au lieu du pèlerinage a maurice pour les catholiques en quête de spiritualités, d'histoire , et de miracle quelques fois. Très apprécié des mauricien père laval a beaucoup apporter a la population chrétienne. Sa reliques s'y trouve exposé sous un cercueil en verre vous pourrez prier afin que ce père disparu vous accorde tous vos prières

Monument plein de spiritualité et étonnant par son mélange architectural.
L'histoire du Père Laval est bien reprise et expliquée dans le petit musée attenant.
On peut voir la ferveur et la spiritualité des Mauriciens, empruntes d'un certain mélange culturel étonnant.
