Huge complex with old-fashioned but spacious and functional rooms and a private beach
Imposing and spacious, designed for families (kids club and dedicated activities) as well as for groups, Le Méridien lays out 261 elegant rooms and suites on a 1km long beach. Sea view from all terraces and balconies, huge swimming pools, and 3 bars and 4 restaurants including Zoli Mamzel, a Mauritian fusion cuisine restaurant with an adorable island decor. An exclusive haven of peace, the adults-only Nirvana wing has its own reception, bar and pool. There is also a fitness center, a diving center, a leisure palette and a spa with a Snow Room.

Welcome with a drink was very friendly. Staff busy but attentively.
However two major negative points which to me, were very disappointing and impacted the stay:
> Beach: despite the long beach, it was full of rocks, quite big though which, even with the shoes provided by the hotel, was not pleasant to get in and swim and was even dangerous to my opinion (when waves or if diving especially).
> Drinks not included during dinner: for some reason the drinks were not included for instance a bottle of water cost two 2 euros for 75cl. In fact, water was supplied freely at the gym, in the rooms or in the spa, therefore I find this kinda ruined the image. Plus, other drinks with alcohol were excessively expensive. Further, I checked the Full Board menu's and even with this last option, not all drinks were included. So really not sure to understand the rationale.
I think these two points are not things that we expect from a 5 stars hotel costing 370€/night. If, like me, the beach front is a key criteria for you I wouldn't recommend this hôtel. You should look for an accomodation in Trou aux biche or Pereybere where beaches are trully sandy.
