Open since 1989, Le Capitaine is one of Grand Baie's oldest restaurants, with a consistent quality of service and food. It's also one of the few varangues open directly onto the sea, on the right side of the road, bordering a cove where a few boats slumber. House classics: the Grand Plateau de fruits de mer (large seafood platter ) or fish dishes such as the Filet de babonne rôti and its shellfish emulsion. Choice of meats too. There's also a range of cocktails and cigars to enjoy in lounge mode on a wooden deck.

very disappointing reception with a not very convivial waiter and growing consumption. We only ordered: grilled lobster and a jug of chardonnay (rate is from 220 rupees MU by 100 grams of crayfish). One offers to us to add a camaron (large prawns) on the menu, and a great naively. All of the bill: 8500 Rupees MU!!!!!! (1600 Rupees of extra for the camaron)!!!!! It is the tourist trap. Much too expensive for Mauritius.
Fish and seafood very fresh, fragrant cuisine, spicy delicious. The restaurant has waterfront and it is very pleasant!
