Designed by a couple originally specialising in events, this hybrid and atypical venue occupies what is known in Mauritius as the former Currimjee stables. In addition to a few rooms, this historic stone setting houses a rooftop bar-lounge for aperitifs and a huge open-air restaurant in what was once the main courtyard of the stables. There, a chef cooks an inventive cuisine based on revisited local products. Come in the evening when the magic of the lighting sublimates the place.

That is definitely not the fault of either the food, the setting or the service.
Food is a mix of all kind of national cuisines, with a particular accent on Indian-Mauritian style. But everybody (including vegetarians and probably also vegans) will find something to his liking on the very extensive menue. It is not "haute cuisine" but tasty, well-done and well presented. Also, quantity does not leave anything to complain about.
The setting is nice. Tables are distributed irregularly across there large atrium of the "hacienda style" restaurant. There are fountains and little pools in between, and tropical plants abound. In the evening, colored lights illuminate the scene, which is borderline kitsch - but only borderline imho.
The service was really very friendly. And extremely helpful, when there was a little misunderstanding regarding the order. Only thing to improve was that it was TOO attentive. A luxury problem, given that we were the only guests, everybody took care of us when there was the slightest occasion - meaning there was somebody coming to the table to inquire about our well-being every two minutes :-). I guess that problem will take care of itself once the news about Hacienda Plaza having reopened spreads and more people flock to this hidden gem.
I will definitely go there again.
