ZILWA ATTITUDE * * * *
Hotel flagship of the Attitude brand with a mini club, offers water and land activities, with swimming pools
This flagship hotel of the Attitude brand aims to showcase the life of the islanders of Mauritius (= zilwa) as a common thread running throughout: in the architecture, the furnishings crafted by local artisans, the 7 restaurants serving cross-cultural cuisine, the friendly art of living, the local experiences - dinner with local people, Creole lessons... But all the essentials of a good 4* are still there: 214 rooms redesigned in 2023, water and land-based activities, 3 swimming pools, POZ spa and, to get away from it all, Ti Zil and Gran Zil, the 2 private islets of the house.

Family of 3. Mum, dad and our 10 Yr old.
The hotel is amazing, food is delicious and plenty of choice. The rooms - superior sea view - was nice and big, very clean and well looked after. Nothing appeared broken or worn, like alot of big hotels.
Our room 1322, was slap bang in between the main buzzing Hotel, with the restaurants, main pools, bar and the beach bar, pool and watersports hub.
We spent most of our time at the beach bar, being served mainly by Ashley - an amazing bar tender who we grew very fond of, and make the most incredible cocktails....and tea! - and Ayush - a wonderful friendly server, who always made sure we had a drink. They are both a credit to the Attitude brand and should be recognised for their work.
The pools are extremely clean, without the horrible burning effects of too much chlorine. There always seemed to be beds about too, at at least one of the pool sides or beach.
The only let down for us was the actual beach at the hotel. Although it looks so beautiful and inviting....it is not so much. The sand is really quite rough and the sea (we are big sea lovers) was almost impossible to swim in due to the low level and copious amounts of coral. We love snorkels and booked hoping the coral would provide good house snorkeling, but it doesn't. I would recommend taking swimming booties. If you are not big sea lovers, and just like to dip in and out, this shouldn't bother you in the slightest.
We never return to the same hotel, but we are considering this one. Beautiful.
Trips we took from the hotel - organised through our tui rep:
5 Island speedboat tour - I have a separate review for this. Book it without hesitation, worth every penny. About £350 total for 3 persons.
Private driver guide for the day - £90 total to take us wherever we wanted for 8 hours. Including getting out with us, and being an actual guide. Not just a "taxi". Amazing value, amazing knowledge.
