LE POIVRIER CAFE - RESTO

We gave this place a second, but unfortunately last chance. The stunning atmosphere, however, absolutely average food (not what we’ve experienced in Grand Baie). It’s just not tasty at all. Beef fillet was undercooked as we asked for well-done, thai salad is nothing about ‘thai’, fish is full of bones, virgin mojito with passion fruit and it’s just mixed with juice, etc. In addition, not really attentive staff which is ok, but what’s the point to call yourself a restaurant if it’s only a nice picture and no service. Hopefully it will change one day ‘cause location is top.

We came here last night for our 36 years wedding anniversary for the first time. We have been to le poivrier several times in grand baie and have always been impressed with this restaurant. Now we have moved to le morne we thought we should try their other restaurant and booked it with the owner/manager. So first impressions are absolutely outstanding decor, ambience and generally very beautiful setting by the river. They have used the same outdoor setting as in grand baie, with lots of big trees covering most of it as well as some wooden type pergolas and parasols. Absolutely loved the whole place and it's much bigger than the grand baie. Parking is good too and easy to find. A real gem. Need to give a shout out to Reshma and Marianne who were so helpful and gave us excellent service. We ordered the côte de beef which came with salad and chips. It was a decent steak for 2 and absolutely loved their chips and the pepper cream sauce. We can't comment on the rest of the food as to whether it's as good as the one in grand baie, but will certainly return to try out other dishes. My favourite dish in grand baie was the seafood risotto, best I've ever eaten!! So will try that next time. I ordered the cafe gourmand, this came with an espresso, chocolate mousse which was lovely, an almond cake, a mille feuille ( a bit chewy) and I think a choux pastry. Rosè wine good and my husband was happy with his malt whisky. Overall would highly recommend eating here.

On aimait trop venir au proivrier car la cuisine est vraiment excellente. Mais avec l’augmentation de prix exponentielle (+56% sur le saumon par exemple qui est passé de 890 à 1390) ça devient beaucoup beaucoup trop cher pour venir y manger.

Le cadre de ce restaurant est superbe le long de la rivière! Pensez à l’anti-moustique ou demandez aux serveurs de vous en fournir! Le repas était délicieux tout comme le cocktail du poivrier! Je recommande le poisson!

Chouette endroit, très très bon accueil, le mi-cuit de thon est très bon, comme les frites maison (dont là portion est malheureusement un peu petite, c'est deceptif, surtout pour ce tarif).
La mousse au chocolat maison est super bonne.
