L'entrée est gratuitement et c'est une place laquelle m'a impresser extra. Ici on trouve une grande pièce de l'histoire de l'île Maurice. Quand on s'est intéresse beaucoup on peut passer 1 heure on minimum ici. Sinon on est fini avec regarder en 10 ou 15 minutes max.

Peaceful and quiet. The museum allows the visitor to understand some parts of the colonial history of Mauritius.
Not crowded and can be visited in 1-2 hours.

Wenn man in Mahebourg ist, kann man es sich anschauen, deswegen hinzufahren lohnt nicht.

Erg interessante geschiedenis over Nederland, Frankrijk Engeland en de oorlogen die op en bij Mauritius gevoerd werden. Ook erg trieste verhalen over slavernij en uitmoorden van de dodo en de natuur wat mij erg raakte.
Echt een plek die je moet bezoeken!

Très intéressant, l'histoire de Maurice est présentée avec de nombreux tableaux, documents et pièces diverses. Un lieu qui a aussi besoin de rénovation ++ (vue la qualité des ouvrages qu'il héberge), cela devient urgent.

Bývalá budova vojenské nemocnice, přeměněná na muzeum, které dává nahlédnout do historie ostrova. Proslulý obraz Dronte mauricijského, pod ním vitrína s torzem kosterních pozůstatků obřího ptáka. Desítky rytin, pokrývajících bohatou koloniální historii země.. Na dvoře poslední zachovány železniční vagón lokální železnice z let 1864-1964, kdy byla zrušena. Vagón je v dezolátním stavu.

Selten kommt es vor, dass ich mich darüber beklagen, dass KEIN Eintritt verlangt wird. Hier fände ich es allerdings sehr sinnvoll. Klar, man wird um eine Spende gebeten und hoffentlich gibt auch jeder etwas, aber ich denke, dass ein fester Eintritt vielleicht mehr bringen würde um dieses Kleinod zu erhalten und vielleicht auch mit englischen und vielleicht auch deutschen Texten zu versehen. Vielleicht wäre auch Eibe Broschüre eine gute Lösung? Jedenfalls empfehle ich den Besuch wärmstens, wenn man sich auch nur ein bisschen für die Geschichte der Insel interessiert.

Great place to visit.
Photography is not allowed of anything inside.
Has a detailed history of the islands population and how they came to the island as well as the battles that took place.
Gift Shop was closed when we visited so couldn't get souvenirs.

Much better after renovation but not great. The anchors, old train and cannons outside will keep on deteriorating if not taken care of. Good display of the history on slavery, ancient coins, weapons, tools, means of transport, etc. Entry is free. Parking available. A guided tour will be welcomed, though there are posters explaining many things.

Very beautiful place where you can get a beautiful and unique view of the ruins having as background the beautiful sea of the eastern coast

The museum, housed in a beautiful but deteriorating building, serves as a poignant reminder of the sad history of colonization. Despite its exceptional architecture, the building unfortunately reflects the neglect that characterizes some aspects of our history. However, inside the museum, the history of colonization is presented thoughtfully and educationally, allowing visitors to gain a better understanding of the past. It's worth visiting this museum to gain a deeper insight into how colonization has shaped our world, despite the challenges it currently faces.

The place to go, to have a knowledge of of History. Very resourceful.
It was interesting, you learn to know Maurice but are limited.
