4 km from the village, open for over 30 years, it's a Chamarel institution. Clad in floor-to-ceiling wood, the room opens onto the outside in lodge style, offering an exceptional view of nature, Le Morne and a stretch of lagoon. It's a big place, often overrun by groups, so don't count on intimacy so much as "a taste for a cuisine that mirrors this island mosaic and transforms every meal into a gustatory experience", as owner José Hitié likes to say - and you'll put me down for a banana flambéed in old rum!

The food is very disappointing, especially for their prices. It's more for tourists. However I wouldn't even recommend this place to them. I tried the Eau et terre dish for Rs1,000. It's just chicken in spice mauritian masala, not worth more than Rs100. The menu said it would be accompanied with vegetable and lentils. But I did not get any vegetable. The rice was cold. Tried it once, did not like it. The view is undeniably beautiful. But you can get the same view from other near free places. So, save your money and go for more local restaurants.

Endroit offrant une vue exceptionnelle et une cuisine de très bonne qualité. Curry terre et mer (crevette et poulet) vraiment puissant et agréable au niveau épices sans être pimenté. Crêpes pomme et miel très réussies. À ne pas rater

Don't be put off by the road closure! Well worth the detour! We went to see the waterfalls, the small market and hike up to the highest peak in Mauritius. We finished off with a lovely meal here. The service is excellent, a great atmosphere and the food is good. Highly recommend coming up here for the day and help these local businesses survive the (minimum) 9 months of road closure (no consultation from local government!)
