Gallery dedicated to shells offering video, screens, panels and interactive experiences through a well thought out scenography

The work of a passionate conchyophile, this is the largest gallery in Africa dedicated to shellfish, with 8,000 specimens of over 1,500 species and 80 families. It's an opportunity to marvel at what nature can shape, model and chisel, and to discover the secrets of shells: their way of life, their defense system, the mystery of their shapes and colors, the legends linked to the symbol of the shell.... Video, panels, QR codes and interactive experiences invite you to take part, in a well-thought-out scenography that enlivens the visit. Store.

Its in south of mauritius. Its a good place to visit. But a bigger sea shells museum you will find in India at mysore, for which you can check my review. If you look at shells with very keen interest it wont take more than 30-40 mins, though we finished in 10 mins.

Worth to take look on cloudy day. Many - around 50-60% of shells are from Mauritius which is great. Small souvenir shop. No problem with parking. The place around it’s also interesting and nice.

Small, cozy, modern. I loved it. Tickets: 275 Rs adult foreign, 125 Rs child foreign, 175 Rs adult resident. Thou museum is tiny, but if you will read all the notes, look on every seashell it will take time. Meanwhile playing marvelous music which creates fantastic atmosphere. You can feel people put a lot of effort into collecting and organizing it into a museum. And very nice souvenirs shop with a lot of handmade products, you will not find cheap Chinese souvenirs there. I love it! I would add there small coffee shop with snacks as place is quite hidden, not many tourists, we were the only ones. Would love to spend more time. There are seashells, you put it to your ear and can hear the ocean. There is also old factory big machines near buy. Unfortunately you can t come close, touch it(maybe cos of safety), but would love to do so and also more information on the place. It could be nice industrial art object.
