TOWN HOTEL
Town hall on the Place de la Municipalité in Curepipe, a typical example of the heritage of the Mascarene Islands.
What's left of Mauritius's architectural heritage? Not much. However, a magnificent example can be found on the Place de la Municipalité: the town hall with its pale blue roof. Inaugurated in 1902, it was built by architect Paul Ivanoff Manuel using materials from a former private residence in Saint-Pierre: La Malmaison. Little maintained until then, the building has now been renovated, and you'll be captivated by the allure, elegance and charm of its architecture, a typical example of Mascarene heritage.
