Caldera of an inactive volcano, with a beautiful view on the city of Curepipe, a favorite place for joggers.

In the heart of the most urbanized area of Mauritius, in the city one could say, stands this curious "hill". It is the caldera of an inactive volcano, 85 meters deep and 300 meters in diameter. A green hole in the middle of the buildings, the top of the crater, equipped with a path, is a favorite place for joggers. The panorama is superb: on the west side of the volcano, you have a 180° view of the ocean and the Rempart mountain. The other side offers a view of the town of Curepipe.

Ce volcan inactif situé en pleine ville de l’Ile Maurice est assez surprenant. J’ai cependant trouvé qu’il y avait peu à voir tellement la végétation est dense. Jolie vue panoramique sur la ville entre la végétation également. A voir par curiosité seulement.

Malheureusement j'y suis allé un jour de fine pluie et de brouillard, mais on y a quand même déjà un bel aperçu! Un cratère comme ça en pleine ville, ça ne se voit pas partout!

Depuis le parking on ne peut admirer le cratère de cet ancien volcan que d'en haut. Toutefois la végétation est assez dense et il vaut mieux être grand pour faire un belle photo... il est préférable de faire 2 mn de marche par la route sur la gauche et vous aurez une vue plus dégagée.

Une curiosité géologique qui ne manque pas d'intérêt. On ne peut admirer le cratère de cet ancien volcan que d'en haut. Un parking suffisamment grand a été prévu à proximité du site. Il faut compter une petite demi-heure pour la visite.
