Heading west from Anse aux Anglais and well past Port Mathurin, we pass through pretty coastal landscapes such as Baie aux Huîtres (so named for its shape) and Baie Malgache, where numerous mangrove trees have been planted to combat erosion. We pass the prison, whose door remains open during the day to allow the penitentiaries (poor bastards who have generally had too much rum) to go gardening or fishing.
