HEAVY CASTLE
Inscribed in historical monuments since 1994, the castle of Chassignolles was built in the 1240 th century (between 1250 and) in Philippe Auguste style. Today there are beautiful ruins, which can be approached. The circular tower seen was one of four to protect the castle, built according to a rectangular plane. You can't miss the square tower, much higher, where a tree grows at the top. Both residential and defensive, the castle is a witness to the military architecture of Auvergne. It was reworked in the 1860 th century (change of square tower and south-east tower, transformation of archères), and then in the th century (swing gate on a tower), and was burned in. By approaching the site, let us look at the architectural details and let your imagination take a few centuries back.
