Medieval castle of the XIII century perched on a hill of Cortegana.
Perched atop a hill overlooking Cortegana, this 13th- and 14th-century medieval castle was also frequently reformed, not only in the 17th and 18th centuries, but also in the 19th century and finally in 1970. Its original layout was rectangular, with Portuguese influences. And its keep was built during the reign of the Catholic kings. The enclosure features six 17th-century towers and two gates, one of which is intricately articulated. In all, the structure is 325 metres long.
