BALANDRO
For those who don't like catering food, this vast, modern, colorful and cheerful establishment is not isolated, but the spearhead of a small catering group in the Bahia de Cádiz, run by the three Vélez brothers. What would be a stuffy affair in France quickly becomes a lively affair in Andalusia! Get dressed up and head for the avenue along the bay for a wide-ranging menu of fusions and reinterpretations of Gaditan cuisine, predisposed to satisfy all tastes. Choose the huge, lively horseshoe-shaped bar or the room overlooking the bay rather than the less hectic upstairs lounge, which is not recommended for claustrophobics! Cold salads and tapas, fresh pasta, freshly-prepared rice, revueltos (scrambled eggs), fried food, platos de cuchara (casseroles), grilled meats, cooked fish and homemade desserts, phew! We've even catered for vegetarians and those allergic to gluten! But what a rich cuisine! The fried sea anemones (ortiguillas fritas) are a little hard to digest, and you almost want to tell the dynamic waiter to remove the ladle of aioli from the tallarines/tagliatelle with squid ink, and the corvina (whiting) with sherry wine is not bad... And the portions are copious.
