CATHEDRAL
A beautiful cathedral, in baroque and neoclassical style, with a remarkable crypt in Cadiz.
On sunny days, there are times when it's a good idea to approach the church via the Campo del Sur from La Caleta, when its yellow-tiled dome shines bright and golden in the sunlight. In the crypt of this Baroque and neoclassical building lies the famous composer Manuel de Falla, a native of Cadiz. Its treasury, considered the third-largest in Spain, contains a variety of goldsmith's and silversmith's pieces, including two superb custodes: the custodia del Corpus, 5 m high and weighing 1,000 kg, and the custodia del Millon, set with over 250,000 precious stones. While the Torre del Poniente, Cadiz's highest tower, is currently closed to visitors due to renovation work, the Torre del Levante, the Torre del reloj, also offers a magnificent view of the city, the bay and the open sea. Entrance to the Cathedral entitles you to visit the Cathedral Museum - Plaza Fray Félix, Casa de la Contaduría ✆ +34 956 259 812. Nearby is the Santa Cruz church, the original cathedral.
