CASA EL PENGUE
With no equivalent in Arcos de la Frontera, we recommend you drive a dozen kilometers to the village of Bornos. Bornos, with its somewhat abandoned reservoir, its Fontanar castle-Palais de los Ribera (14th-16th centuries) and its sumptuous gardens, and then, its den of good food: El Pengue! In the heart of the village, yet another Andalusian restaurant that doesn't look like much, yet this establishment, founded in 1972, strives to stand out from the crowd thanks to a daily menu that combines fresh produce and savoir-faire, underlined by the finest artistic touches! Marco is a young, friendly and passionate chef, who recently took over the family business, simply to give pleasure! Two or three times a week, he travels to Sanlucar de Barrameda to pick up his fish and seafood before concocting a plethora of delicious recipes. He also goes out of his way to find a few good meats (butcher's cuts, prime rib, etc.) to accompany a fine vintage beverage. At the bar, in the lounge or on the terrace, Pascale, a Breton from Marseilles, always wins points for her kindness. More lively in the evening, this place is recommended to bon vivants, with eyes closed!
