Gibraltar is a city that has been served by Monarch Airlines. Founded in 1968, Monarch Airlines has grown rapidly over the years, with a fleet of some 30 aircraft and flights to numerous destinations in Europe and the Mediterranean basin. This closure led to the cancellation of 300,000 tickets and left 110,000 passengers stranded at their destination. Fortunately, the UK Civil Aviation Authority organized the repatriation of these passengers with the help of other airlines. It is important to note that Monarch Airlines no longer serves Gibraltar since its closure.
