ST MICHAEL'S CAVE
Natural site with stalactites and stalagmites in Gibraltar.
This natural site, with its stalactites and stalagmites, is one of Gibraltar's main attractions. An auditorium has even been installed for concerts and sound and light shows.
Speaking of caves, perhaps the Neanderthal woman should have been called the Woman of Gibraltar, the probable inhabitant of one of the Peñon caves. Indeed, the discovery in 1833 of a female skull dating back tens of thousands of years, in the Forbes quarry at the foot of the craggy north face of the Rock, predates the discovery of Neander (Germany), which gave its name to the Neanderthal lineage.
