North of the Alameda Principal, the central market (opened in 1879) retains a marble door from the Nazarite era, when the place was a naval workshop, hence the origin of its name atarazanas meaning "arsenal". Completely renovated (2008-2010), it is once again a lively little gem in the mornings. On Calle Atarazana, small bars like Cartuchito offer fried fish. Don't go without.
