NATURAL MONUMENT OF THE DUNES OF ARTOLA
This monument is the remnant of an ancient area of the coast of Malaga that formed a dune line of 20 kilometers
This is the remnant of an ancient area of the Malaga coast that formed a 20-kilometre-long dune belt. Three types of dunes can still be distinguished in this area: those on the front line of the beach, with undulations; moving dunes further inland, covered with vegetation; and immobile fossil dunes, with numerous pine trees. Because of the sunshine and the lack of wind and water in the dunes, you'll find some unusual plant species. Nearby is the Torre de los Ladrones - " Tower of the Thieves" - a piece of military architecture declared to be of cultural interest. The tower is Roman in origin, but was later rebuilt by Arabs and Christians.
