IGLESIA MAYOR DE LA ENCARNACIÓN
Both in its imposing size and its location in the highest part of the city, this church is the visual reference point in central Alhama. Probably built on the former great mosque, from the end of the 15th century to the beginning of the 16th century, it is in late Gothic style for its original structure and Renaissance for the elements that have been added to it such as the choir, the upper floors of the tower and details of the south façade. Its museum houses an interesting collection of liturgical ornaments from the 15th and 16th centuries. As it is only open to the public during mass hours, it will be necessary to follow the guided tours organised by the tourist office to visit it.
