INTERPRETATION CENTRE CASTILLO DE SANTA CATALINA
Castle with a national parador overlooking the Guadalquivir Valley
Approximately 4 km west of the cathedral, an almost impregnable defensive bastion dominates the city. The fortress, built in 1246 by Alhamar and conquered by King Ferdinand III, who arranged it to his liking, became Santa Catalina Castle. Raised in 2010, it now houses a national parador, a veritable belvedere overlooking the Guadalquivir valley, the ocean of olive groves and the blue walls of the sierra. Without a car, you can get there by bus, leaving from plaza Jaén por la Paz every 30 minutes from 9.30 a.m. to 5.30 p.m., but it takes you quite a long way, or on foot (for the brave!) up a path that climbs (and climbs... a lot) opposite calle de Buenavista. The best option is to take a shared cab.

Its restoration are admirable, you can visit a vibrant and wired for sound napoleonic prison, but the sly little minx mentions it attention that monte, monte!
You can even buy a lottery ticket in the chapel of Sainte Catherine, is luck. At the end of the promontory, at the foot of calvary view if Jaen and around is worth the trip.
