CANTINA LA ESTACIÓN
Close to the Mercado de Abastos, this small wine bar and restaurant has been offering a good selection of nectars from virtually every province in Spain, as well as from abroad, since 2005. The restaurant is decorated like an old train carriage and run by El Che, thealma mater of this welcoming place. By the glass or bottle, beverages can be accompanied by tapas and excellent raciones (fried octopus, Rabo de Toro risotto...) prepared by his partner. When it comes to wine, you'll want to make a judicious choice of the regional wines of the region, the red wines of Torreperogil (10 km east of Úbeda), a small production of quality, difficult to find outside the province of Jaén: very red fruit on the palate, like a blueberry and blackberry jam, with a hint of caramel. On the menu, the menu changes according to the season, and from now on you'll also have the pleasure of sitting on a large, quiet terrace to taste the oil selections and the homemade bread, the hochíos, with their aniseed flavour.
