SAN BARTOLOMÉ MUDÉJAR CAPILLA
Chapel located inside the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters, former hospital of Cardinal Salazar.
Like the Capilla Real of the mosque-cathedral, this chapel, recently opened to the public, is a little jewel and a fine example of Mudejar architecture. Formerly the parish church of San Bartolomé, it is located inside the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters, Cardinal Salazar's former hospital. Built between the 14th and 15th centuries, in the height of the Baroque period as evidenced by its superb altarpiece, its major restorations date from the 19th century. Passing through the main portal surmounted by a triple-arched portico and the arched patio, you'll discover a single nave with a ribbed vault, walls decorated with earthenware tiles, glazed flagstones and a chevet preserving remnants of mural painting.
