NECROPOLIS JUDÍA
One of the most important Jewish necropolis in Spain, discovered by chance in 2007 in Lucena
One of Spain's most important Jewish necropolises, dating from the 11thand 12th centuries, it was discovered by chance in 2007 during construction work on a stretch of road. In all, more than 357 tombs were uncovered, all of them featuring the rite of burial in a single or double grave, accompanied by inscriptions that make it possible to date and identify their origin. The subsequent restoration work restored a total of 80 tombs, in which the exhumed bones of 117 people were reburied according to the Jewish religious rite. The necropolis is now fully equipped for those wishing to pay their respects.
