PRIEGO DE CÓRDOBA CASTLE
Arab fortress whose ensemble is formed by a fortified perimeter with square towers and a cylindrical one
Originally an Arab fortress, the site was modified between the 13th and 14th centuries. The complex comprises a fortified perimeter with square towers and a cylindrical tower. Access is gained through two horseshoe-shaped arches, framed by an alfiz. Declared a National Historic Monument in 1943, the keep is located in the courtyard and dates back to the 13th century, when Priego was a commandery of the Order of Calatrava. Square in plan, it comprises three storeys covered by semicircular vaults.
