Excellent wine list and cuisine made with quality products in a splendid historical restaurant in Manhattan.
Opened on January1, 1930, this establishment was one of the most famous speakeasies in the United States during Prohibition. High-quality bottles of wine were served, hidden in a cellar whose exact location was kept secret. Today, 21 is still famous not only for its exceptional wine list (including Petrus and Château Lafite), but also for its refined menu. The setting is very luxurious, with velvet and leather sofas, paintings of American presidents and knick-knacks of all kinds. Please note that, although ties are no longer compulsory for men, there's no question of going into the restaurant dressed any old way. Bring at least a jacket and a shirt!
