Sandwiches, beers and various dishes to enjoy in a restaurant car with terrace in New York.
Closed in 2010, much to the despair of long-time aficionados, the former Empire Diner rose from the ashes in 2011 under a new name: The Highliner (we're just a stone's throw from the new section of the Highline). A new name for a place that, in the end, hasn't changed one iota. The metallized restaurant car remains an Art Deco masterpiece, the beer selection is always interesting and the cuisine deserves no special mention (salads, sandwiches, etc.). The place is still open most of the night, and the diner atmosphere is as electric as ever! Formerly open 24 hours a day, the place has always attracted a steady stream of night owls. Quiet on weekdays, this Chelsea classic comes alive at weekends. And don't forget brunch on the terrace in summer.
