Luxurious and trendy hotel with a beautiful view of Manhattan and a superb library café in SoHo.

Minimalist, trendy, luxurious, a typical SoHo hotel, opened in early 2016, was designed by the Space Copenhagen design studio, which decorated many restaurants including the famous Noma. The style is therefore quite discreet, unlike the flashy style of other SoHo establishments, with furniture with a very European and contemporary design. From the fifth floor, we begin to enjoy a pretty pretty view of Manhattan. Don't forget to check out the magnificent state-of-the-art café-library on the second floor.

Unfortunately my stay at 11 Howard from 12/15 to 12/17 was disappointing. This was a date weekend and I had high expectations given that the hotel is a member of Amex’s “The Hotel Collection”. Overall our stay represented poor value for money and was on par with what I’d expect at a hotel costing less than half of what I paid.

Here are the things that particularly bothered us:
• The room was tiny and felt crowded
• We found a dirty sock from a previous guest in plain sight in the closet
• The tablet woke us up at ~1am announcing that it had low battery. It was not simple to turn off and this really disturbed our sleep.
• A welcome email from the hotel promised us “one of the most unique welcoming services in the industry”. This sounded quite impressive but we certainly did not experience this. When we asked someone at the front desk to explain this to us they couldn’t.

General feedback:
• The hotel and rooms are dated. The dim lights in the narrow hallway on the 9th floor did not show how old and dirty the carpets were. The door did a poor job of sound insulation and we could hear people in the hallway and the elevators clearly while we were in the room.
• The technology in the room was far from what I’d expect at a premium hotel. The TV didn’t have any streaming services available and the tablet was one of the least intuitive devices I’ve used in recent memory and was practically useless.
• Plastic cups for water in the bathroom did not feel premium at all

Attended "The Blonde"!!! Malcolm's guest list...Excellent, Excellent, Excellent...bouncers were professional, coat check was perfect, Bartenders made my Old Fashioned perfect, DJ was flawless, and the crowd of beautiful people a 10 all around. This is what enjoying life is all about!!!

Great room, great place, great location, and even great dining downstairs. Staffs are friendly, professional and helpful.

However, the minus-one star for me is how inconsistent the staff's knowledge about the policy. For example, I was greeted by a staff with wrong knowledge about how Amex experience over the phone. While I was there, I was also confused by the wording of "providing breakfast" and "breakfast on us". Apparently you have to "register" for that first. The hotel should work better on looping employees in and have clearer policy guidelines.

Second floor lounge is decent, soho centric. It’s okay.

DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL!!!!

This is a PSA: do not stay at the 11 Howard. Like many of the reviews, I went in thinking this is a 5 star hotel, given that's what it says on google. Let me stress that if anything, this is a 2 star hotel. It's absolutely disgusting. I've stayed at plenty of nice, 3 star hotels and I wouldn't even compare this to that. When you walk in, there is a curtain separating the lobby from a Club... the check in desk is essentially a folded picnic table with a dude working off of a personal laptop. There's no doorman and no security. The room is even WORSE - chipped paint, damaged chair, damaged sink, handprints on the walls, dirty carpet... I have literally no idea how this place gets away with saying it's 5 star. This should be marketed as a 2 star hotel for $100/night. DO NOT STAY HERE
