A trendy new hotel with a decor that's a little off the beaten track, for very good value.

The Moxy Times Square offers very good value for money and a decor that's a little out of the ordinary. The rooms are quite small, but so well appointed that it's not really a nuisance. The hotel's location, right in the heart of Midtown, is also enviable, and will suit you particularly well if it's your first time in New York. The Moxy's target audience is young people who don't have a huge budget but still want to travel with a certain panache. Its rooftop, Magic Hour, offers an incredible view of the Empire State Building.

The windows are crazy old and do not seal well; they let ALL the street noise in all night.

Just stayed as part of a group. The customer service from booking through departure was outstanding, they made planning a trip for a group of teens to NYC so much easier than it could have been. Between having rooms ready in a prompt manner, to storing our luggage on departure in an easily accessible, but secure, spot, it was so easy. The rooms were small, but that's New York for you. Housekeeping went above and beyond, and the lounge area above the lobby was good for the teens to hang out (with at least one chaperone) until it was time to go to rooms. Only negative is that the elevators do take a while, so plan a little extra time for that. All in all, when I do this again, without hesitation, the Moxy will be my first call in the planning process.

Booked this hotel for a short 3 night stay in a queen room. When we got to the room, I was sure the bed wasn’t a queen despite being told it was. Are queen beds smaller in NYC?
We then got upgraded to a king bed, but we were on the 16th floor. Loud music and bass from the nightclub until after 3am. Needless to say, didn’t sleep.

HOWEVER, the staff here are absolutely the best. They will take care of you. It’s not their fault the music is loud, but they moved us to another room the next day. Honestly, everyone working there is great. I would suggest if you have any issues just to speak with a staff member instead of waiting until after your stay is done. They will try really hard to make you happy.

The hotel itself charges $30 resort fee per night, but you also have $30 credit to use at the bar or coffee shop adjacent. Not too bad, and it’s well advertised on their website so shouldn’t be a surprise. Good luggage storage downstairs for free. Elevators are a bit weird to get used to, you select where you want to go on a panel, and it’ll direct you to one of four elevators. There are no buttons inside so you really need to take the elevator you’re assigned to.

All in all, great time spent in NYC and thank you Moxy crew for your good work. I wish I remembered the staff members names, but everyone provided super service.

The location of the hotel is great, 7 min walk to Times Square, 25 min walk to Central Park, we also had 30USD per day to use in a cafe next door which was great for morning coffee and pastries and the shower in this hotel is amazing. The biggest negatives is the size of the room as it was the smallest I have stayed at in NYC, the bed does not comfortably sleep two people and it’s wall to wall, very uncomfortable and squeaky, didn’t get a single decent nights sleep.
