Dream Midtown, by Hyatt
Dream Midtown, hotel close to Times Square and Central Park in Manhattan.
One of Dream Midtown's strengths is its location, close to both Times Square, which is within walking distance, and Central Park, four blocks away. 55th Street is lively and bustling without being filled with tourists. If you want to eat, drink or see a show in the neighborhood, you'll be spoiled for choice. The rooms are relatively small unless you opt for the more expensive ones, and could probably use a refresh, but they are clean and comfortable. Very nice view from the rooftop bar, PHD Terrace.

Room was tiny(to be expected) what wasn’t expected was the chipped paint everywhere combined with a filthy carpet along with no decor on the walls other than a mirror and a Tv. There was a decommissioned mini bar that was unplugged and taking up space in an already small room, there was nowhere to put a suitcase other than the floor.
I’ve been an explorist with Hyatt for a few years and this is the first hotel to not even mention my status upon check in or offer any kind of upgrade paid or otherwise. Most of the employees with the exception of the concierge who had just come back from vacation were not the best
The worst part was my final day literally 5 minutes after normal checkout time I’m in the shower and someone from housekeeping try’s to enter my room without knocking and then proceeds to BANG on the door as if they are the police. When I answer she asks why I haven’t left and says I need to leave, I explain I have prearranged late checkout with the front desk. She simply responds she didn’t know without an apology or anything acknowledgment she is in the wrong. I say you should probably speak to the front desk before banging on a guests door that way and shut the door.
2 days after checkout and filling out the survey I get an email from a Grace Z who says she is the director of front office with an apology and offer of bonus points as amends. I respond saying thanks and I will perhaps give the hotel another chance in the future.. fast forward 10+ business days later and she hasn’t followed through. I’ve tried contacting her as well as the hotel multiple times with no luck. Par for the course I guess considering the lackluster stay why would I expect anything more after they’ve gotten $900+ out of me
I absolutely would not stay at this hotel again and sadly as the first time staying at a Dream property and the poor experience and follow through it puts a bad seed in my mind about trying other dream hotels in other places.
