CHELSEA INN
Cheap hotel close to New York subway stations.
The 33 rooms of this hotel, broken down on 5 floors, are simple and clear. If all have a kitchenette (fridge and coffee maker), in return, many of them share the bathrooms. Only drawback: the noise in the rooms on the ground floor, overlooking a disco bar. Rather choose the rooms that overlook the courtyard or the garden, they are much quieter. You can see the branches and leaves of trees and can sleep properly. You will be given coupons at the beginning of your stay for breakfast - take-away -, in a pastry restaurant next door (La Petite Abeille): pastries, fruit juice and hot drinks. The building is a trademark (listed), the owner cannot really carry out substantial renovations. It is not possible to build a lift for example. The decor of the rooms is rough and a little bit old, but the hotel is clearly seeking to keep its price at its lowest. However, it is well located in Manhattan and near the subway stations, including 14th Street. Book about a month in advance.

The main bed was old or in a bad shape and you would easily roll into the middle.
The staff in the reception was very rude. The wifi did not work well. There was no elevator and at night you could hear the music of the pub next door until 2am like if it was in the room next to you.
The only positive things of this hotel are the location and the cleaning.
