HUDSON NEW YORK
One of the trendiest hotels in New York City, with a terrace offering a breathtaking view of Manhattan and a bar.
Entirely designed by Philippe Starck, the Hudson Hotel is probably one of the most spectacular in New York. First of all, the entrance: check the number to make sure you're in front of it. Once through the doors, a narrow escalator lit in apple-green neon leads to the reception area and majestic lobby. The ceilings are high, the transparent bar is just behind, and a tree-lined terrace extends across the street. It's impressive and, unless you go there around 9pm when the music is a little too loud, the place is pretty much unmissable, if only to take a look around or drink a cosmopolitan cocktail. Back in the day, an entire episode of Sex & The City was filmed here. There are around 600 rooms in this enormous hotel, all fairly standard, but comfortable. The guest privilege is this: private access to the 17th-floor terrace, with a 180-degree view of Manhattan. After a cocktail sipped on a deckchair, life is a little more beautiful.
