Hotel with terrace, lounge bar, business center and weight room on the Upper East Side.
With its 89 rooms featuring precious furnishings, white walls and thick green carpeting, this distinguished, warm and serene hotel embodies a certain idea of English comfort and charm. Built in 1902 and renovated in 2000 at a cost of $5 million, The Wales offers the advantage of being located in a lively, unspoilt part of the Upper East Side, where you'll enjoy discovering superb private homes on gently sloping streets. If possible, book a suite overlooking Madison and, beyond, the Central Park reservoir. The view from the shaded rooftop terrace is breathtaking. Alas, the penthouse to which this terrace belongs (tenth floor) costs the modest sum of US$4,000 per night - ✆ +1 212 876 7139 - special reservation line, you never know... But smaller budgets can enjoy the lounge bar, set up all summer on this terrace from Thursday to Saturday. The hotel also boasts a fitness room, a business center equipped with computers and a large lounge where tea and coffee are served as much as you like. And to the left of the hotel, Sarabeth's (a famous chain of tea rooms) serves as a breakfast room and restaurant in general.
